North Rim
After visiting the fort we headed to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. It was my first time at the North Rim. Although a hot, long drive it was beautiful once we got there. It is only @ 6 hours from where I live and I could not believe I had never been. I have to plan a trip down with family. There are cabins along the North Rim that look really nice and a beautiful lodge where you can sit and look out over the canyon. We walked around a little on the trails but did not go too far. We had dinner at the lodge which has a great view. Afterwards, we decided to skip the star gazing and head back to Kanab. It was an exhausting day with the heat. I think if I go another time that I will go when the weather is cooler.
Something Point
The next day on the way to the Grand Canyon we stopped at a fort that was built by Mormon Pioneers. It was interesting but not worth the trip out in the middle of no where and it was extremely hot. We were glad that we took the tour because otherwise you cannot enter the fort. It was a tithing fort. There was a natural spring that the pioneers directed water into a room where the cheese was made and if they were ever under attack would have water.
Kanab
A friend of mine had to go to Kanab for a business meeting and her husband could not go along so she asked if I wanted to ride down with her. The first night we had Dutch Oven at Little Hollywood, or something like that. A lot of westerns were filmed in Kanab. Before dinner we had to go out in this little western town and put on a show. We were Indians. It was kind of silly but I quess we worked for our dinner.
Homemade Ice Cream
I asked for an ice-cream machine for my birthday and we have been enjoying butter pecan and vanilla ice cream. Tyler is really excited and asked me to get an ice-cream book online that a member in his area uses. I haven't tried any of the recipes yet because I'm trying to lose weight but will have to break down and make some more. It is yummy!
Pow Wow
Invited the Thuswaldner's to go to a Pow Wow in Spanish Fork Canyon, just to see what it is like. It was alright but moves really slow. They are visiting from Austria so I hope it was interesting for them.
Walking
A friend of mine goes walking with her son every Saturday and invited me to join them. Her son always picks her a Dandelion and he picked one for me too. It was really sweet that he included me.
He is really fast. I was afraid I was going to have to run seven miles, which I am not in shape to do. Fortunately, he goes ahead of us. I was exhausted the first time but subseqent walks have been much easier.

Ty's Letters
Ty is starting to send some things home and so I received a box full of letters. I started putting them in a binder for him but it was taking too long so thought I would just purchase a container and dump it in there. My mom convinced me to keep going and put them in binders. Someone sure is loved!
